Cross-country
On Thursday the 29th February, we took over 40 KS2 children to a cross-country event. In the morning, Year 3 and 4 took part in four events – 6 children in each event. In the first event, the Year 3 girls performed brilliantly. Within individual performances, we had a 1st and 3rd place finish and the team came first overall; they actually had the lowest team score of the whole day. Next up were the Year 3 boys. They also performed outstandingly and, individually, we had a 1st and 3rd place. They also won in the team event too. After, it was the Year 4 girls. They all ran really well and their performances were really strong. Finally, in the morning session it was the turn of Year 4 boys. We managed to secure an individual 3rd place finish and the boys also came third in the team event.
In the afternoon, the Year 5 and 6 took part in their four events. They all had the short straw as the weather changed considerably in the afternoon and it rained. Considering the weather, all the children did their best and represented the school really well. Year 5 were up first and they did a brilliant job. The boys and girls both finished 2nd overall as a team which was a great result. Then it was Year 6. It started to rain even harder before they started but you could see the determination on their faces to complete the race. Considering the weather, it was a great event and all the children did an amazing job taking part and representing the school.
Tendring Recycling Project
This term a new bench has arrived on the KS2 playground for the children to use and enjoy. It is a really special bench because it is made completely from recycled plastic. The recycling team were able to "purchase" the bench for the school, using the tokens earnt by collecting plastic bottle tops - just one of the many recyling streams they provide.
Together we have collected an extraordinary 140,000 Earth Tokens and recycled 560kg of plastic! We are well on our way towards a second bench, so please keep collecting those lids.
Tendring Ambassador Project
On Wednesday 15th November 2023, the year 5’s at Tendring Primary School participated in the Tendring Junior Ambassador Project Celebration Event following learning about different cultures this term. We learned about hate crime, Chinese calligraphy, African singing and story telling, the Ukranian culture aswell as having an author and artist visit too. Finally, it was the day of the celebration event, we were also lucky enough to be taught Bollywood dancing on the day. We all tried our hardest with our dance and absolutely SMASHED it on the stage! Even other schools and the audience (the parents) joined in. It was so much fun and we all enjoyed it.
